About Us

Bradford County Building and Zoning Department is responsible for approving plans, issuing permits, performing inspections, planning, and making zoning recommendations. The Building and Zoning Department provides building and zoning code enforcement for the county in accordance with the Florida Building Code and Bradford County Land Development Regulations (LDR).

The Bradford County Building and Zoning Department is divided into two related divisions. The Building division is responsible for approving plans, issuing permits for residential and commercial construction, performing building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, sign and swimming pool inspections. The Zoning division is responsible for managing Bradford County's Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations. These two documents govern how property can be divided and the uses that are allowed on property.

There are two Boards that also support the Zoning Department. The Planning and Zoning Board who also serves as the Local Planning Agency. This Board is made up of five (5) residents within the County, and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on Comprehensive Plan Amendments and Rezoning Applications.

The Board of Adjustment is also made up of five (5) residents of the County and makes final decisions on Special Exceptions and Variances.
